Clipston Recreation Fields Trust - Tree Planting

Clipston Recreation Ground Trust has been working to create a new woodland area in the playing fields which the group says will be a great addition for existing villagers and visitors.

Chloe Petty, trust member, said: “With support from the Woodland Trust, who have provided over 400 saplings and a Big Lottery grant; the Trust, local volunteers, children from Clipston Primary School and from Stepping Stones Pre-School have spent time in November planting trees, spring bulbs and laying the foundations for picnic benches and a ‘play tree’

“The children of Stepping Stones are especially pleased that it will be available to those who attend the Forest School.”

CLIPSTON SHOOTING CLUB - Latest News

Clipston Shooting Club has just celebrated 30years in existence!  Due to a growing membership we have been able to increase charity donations to local organisations - this has now reached £30,000 over the years. This year donations have been made to the Air Ambulance, MacMillan Nurses and Clipston and District Royal British Legion (to buy Christmas hampers for retired members).

Local landowners need to be thanked for their help and allowing us to use their land. The Bull’s Head in the village has been very kind in cooking breakfast and providing facilities for club meetings. Thank you all.

A proud piece of information is about a young member of our club, Henry Collins, of Newbold Farm  who has been selected as junior captain of the English Sporting Team in the World Championships to be held in Texas next year. Congratulations Henry, the whole club is pleased for you.

The club Is always open to new members, experienced shots and beginners. Tuition and safety provided. Enquiries to Laurie Anderson  on  01858 525481.

Concerts In Clipston Church - Saturday 26th November

EVERYONE ENJOYS THEMSELVES!

On Saturday Chris Blake (piano) and Melanie Armitstead (soprano) played and sang for us.

The afternoon concert was for young families and throughout Chris and Mel involved the children in playing a part in the music. By the second half every young person had become involved and Chris commented how enthusiastic the children had been. Around 50 parents and children attended.

In the evening around 80 people attended to hear a superb concert. Chris followed the pattern of last year’s success by organising a programme with themes that he or Mel explained before they played. The music included tunes we all know and some that were new to us. All were beautifully performed.

Faye Tan had taken on most of the work to make these concerts happen and David Tan has proved himself to be a great sound engineer! Thank you to both of you!

The church is a great venue for performing. The acoustic is good for performers and audience alike and I applaud the Parochial Church Council for opening up the building as a concert venue. Thank you!

Finally I’d like to say that this was one of those events where everyone seems to win!

The audience enjoyed the concert;

Chris and Mel appreciate and enjoyed the chance to perform;

Clipston Recreation Field Trust raised money for the running costs of the recreation field.

Couldn’t be better!!
