Flood Warden

Ann Essen 07709 411262

Flooding occurs very rarely in Clipston after extensive works were carried out on the River Ise where it crosses the Kelmarsh Road at the south east of the village.

The Tree Warden’s Role

I have been the village tree warden for quite a few years now and the sound of chainsaws often sets my phone ringing.

There is no set job description for a tree warden; they are volunteers working for their parish council.

They can do surveys and make a register of the local trees and be made aware of threats to trees that may need bringing to the attention of the Tree Officer at the local authority.

The tree warden can give advice on tree issues such as what species to plant and when to plant, look out for damage to newly planted trees and watch for trees showing signs of disease or becoming dangerous through decay.

A tree warden cannot:

  • Carry out tree works for which they are not qualified
  • Enter land without permission
  • Handle disputes themselves
  • Advise whether or not a tree is safe
