The Tree Warden’s RoleI have been the village tree warden for quite a few years now and the sound of chainsaws often sets my phone ringing. There is no set job description for a tree warden; they are volunteers working for their parish council. They can do surveys and make a register of the local trees and be made aware of threats to trees that may need bringing to the attention of the Tree Officer at the local authority. The tree warden can give advice on tree issues such as what species to plant and when to plant, look out for damage to newly planted trees and watch for trees showing signs of disease or becoming dangerous through decay.
