News : Cycle Race Through Clipston - 9th July 2016

The cyle race through Clipston on Saturday 9th July 2016 was organised by the Welland Vally Cycling Club and sponsored by Duncan Murray Wines.

There were actually two events, mens race NCRA Summer Series Race and closely followed by the womens race which was part of the Womens Team Series.

The race was supported by three lead cars and a motorcycle providing advanced warning to road users, other cars were between the two races and trail cars.

Information provided by the organisers;

"The race starts outside Naseby Village Hall on Haselbech Rd, Naseby.  Proceeds to Haselbech and continues to the junction with the A508 north of Maidwell (M3). The race turns left on to the A508 and continues through Kelmarsh to Great Oxendon, where it then turns left  (M), following the narrow road towards South East of East Farndon. Left turn at junction (M) with B4036.  Continues along B4036 through Clipston to Naseby.  Turn left in Naseby (M) on to Haselbech Road to complete a lap. The finish line is 200m before the bridge over the A14 on the B4036 on the approach to Naseby. (M). One lap is approx. 12.5 miles.  The races will be neutralised until leaving Haselbech village on the first lap".

The womens race was 4 laps or 50 miles, the mens race was 5 laps or 64 miles.
